EMPHASIS partners reflect on key results in new video interviews

A new video featuring interviews with EMPHASIS project partners highlights the main scientific, technological, and industrial outcomes achieved over the three-year project.

In the interviews, Athanasios Masouras (project coordinator), Guinevere Giffin, and Christophe Haunold discuss the development of advanced electrolytes, including ionic liquid and polymer-based systems, and their integration into supercapacitor demonstrators for smart textiles and electromobility. The partners also reflect on pilot lines for graphene synthesis and ionic liquid production, scalability challenges, and the significant cost reductions achieved for imide-based ionic liquids.

The video also addresses the broader impact of EMPHASIS, including pathways towards industrial uptake, technology transfer, licensing, and follow-up research initiatives. Partners underline the role of supercapacitors and alternative electrolytes in strengthening Europe’s energy independence and supporting more sustainable energy storage solutions.
