New interview: Meet Athinais Mavrikaki

We are continuing the EMPHASIS interview series!

In this series, we introduce you to talented researchers working on our project, exploring their scientific contributions and what drives them in their careers.

This time, we are pleased to introduce you to Athinais Mavrikaki from FORTH. Within EMPHASIS, Athinais focuses on the laser-assisted fabrication of biomass-based graphene electrodes, both as-is and embedded with metal oxide nanoparticles, and their implementation in supercapacitors. She also works on laser modification of conventional electrodes to enhance electrolyte ion accessibility and performance.

Athinais is passionate about transforming biomass waste into high-performance graphene materials through sustainable processes, bridging innovation and environmental responsibility. She values the collaborative and interdisciplinary spirit of the EMPHASIS project, where researchers exchange ideas and contribute diverse expertise toward shared goals.
